My Grandmother passed away this morning in her sleep with my grandfather by her side. Rest easy Gram. I love you.

My grandparents celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary today. Soon after the time that made the official 56 years, my Grandmother took a nap and slipped into a coma. She has been battling to keep strong over the past year, as she has terminal lung cancer. She doesn’t have much time left at all and could very well pass away at any minute.
This is what my Grandfather wrote to all our family friends: “This is the saddest letter that I have ever wrote in my life. I would give anything to stop what led up to this. As most of you know, my wife Gisela/Lisa has terminal cancer. After her ride in the Lincoln on Memorial Day, we returned home. Gisela sat up and watched the Hatfield and McCoy presentation until 11:00, she then fell asleep on the couch. Our daughter Ann tried to awaken her and she did not want to get up. She did get a good nights sleep. This morning, (Tuesday) Ann helped her to the bathroom. She was in such pain and wanted to lay on the bed. After a short time, she was asleep and has been since. The Hospice Nurse came in and checked on her this morning. She told us that she may have two days left. As of this writing 11:00pm, she has not woke up. She is not in pain for the meds that were given to us to administer which Ann and Rose have been doing. All of our family has been notified and the clergy has been here. It is tearing us apart to see her in this condition. I made a commitment that she would not go to a hospital or nursing home. She will pass here at home with many loving family members present. I would appreciate it very much for prayers for her. This is the most patriotic woman that I have seen. She has been in hundreds of parades and functions and the fine comments of our anniversary. She has made hundreds of hats and mittens for the children, she has assisted in raising thousands of dollars for the veterans. The latest project was giving small stuffed animals to children. We have passed out almost 1600. Wherever I went she was by my side to include military funerals and Wreaths Across America. I will notify you when she does pass. I also want to thank the many, many messages for the parade pictures that mostly Mary took and posted. The last thing we wanted to do was dance to our favorite song by Ann Murray, The last dance. We were unable to do this so I swayed to the music in bed, I was able to honor her last request. We were praying that she be with us for our 56th wedding anniversary and she was, which was today. Thank you, Larry.”
